Drew "Chopper" Rogers

Drew Rogers (AKA “Chopper”) earned a broadcast journalism degree from the University of Missouri and was a news and sports anchor on the 6 o’clock news for the NBC affiliate in Columbia, MO. He was the voice of the Missouri University baseball team and hosted a jazz radio show. He was a scholarship basketball player for the University of Kansas before transferring to Mizzou.

Like many starving sportscasters, he followed the money into a business career primarily in medical equipment manufacturing where he once served as President/General Manager of a global medical device manufacturer. He managed divisions in Europe and Asia, traveling extensively worldwide before retiring from the business world in 2018.

He is a published author, his memoir “Before the Spotlight” tells the story of his integrated high school basketball team surviving race riots and other challenges during the volatile early 1970’s to reach the Missouri state finals with a 31-0 record. (Book available for sale on Amazon).

Today, he does charity work for Trinity hospice kids, coaches hoops at the Boy and Girls club, and serves on the advisory board for a major healthcare provider network. His second book, a slightly futuristic thriller should be published later this year. But most of all…more than any of those other distractions…he loves his role as Chopper for LaxRatz!
